Sprouted Methi (Fenugreek/uluva) Sambar Methi Recipe Recipe

Ingredients for preparing  Sprouted Methi Samar

  • Tomato – 2
  • Green chillies – 3
  • Toor dal – ½ cup
  • Fenugreek -1½ cup
  • Tamarind – small lemon size
  • Turmeric Powder – ¼ tsp
  • Chilli powder – ½ tsp
  • Coriander powder – 1tsp
  • Asafoetida powder – pinch
  • Mustard seeds -1 tsp
  • Urad dal (Uzhunnu Parippu) -1 tsp
  • Dry red chilli – 2
  • Curry leaves – A few
  • Coriander leaves – A few
  • Salt – As per taste
  • Oil – as per needed

Steps for preparing Sprouted Methi Sambar

  1. Wash thoroughly toor dal and fenugreek and soak in water for 15 minutes. Pressure cook it with turmeric powder and curry leaves.
  2. Heat oil in a pan, add green chillies, and stir for a while. Then add chopped tomatoes and fry for 5 minutes.
  3. Mix it with cooked dal and fenugreek, stir well. Add Chilli powder
  4. Coriander powder, tamarind juice, asafoetida powder and salt. Bring to boil in low flame.
  5. Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and allow it to splutter. Then add Urad dal, dry red chillies and curry leaves, fry for a minute and pour it to the sambar.
  6. Finally add chopped coriander leaves to the sambar.
